Lone Rock is a cool, solitary rock formation found in Lake Powell, which is part of the amazing Glen Canyon Recreation Area. It's located in Utah, in the United States. Imagine a giant rock standing all by itself in a huge lake – that's Lone Rock! It's less than 10 miles (about 16 kilometers) from the Glen Canyon Dam.

Visiting Lone Rock

Right across from Lone Rock is the Lone Rock Campground. You can get to this campground from Route 89. This spot is special because it's one of the few places in the Glen Canyon Recreation Area where you can drive your car right up to the water's edge. This makes it super easy to set up camp, launch a boat, or just enjoy the lake!

Lone Rock on TV

Did you know Lone Rock has been on TV? This unique spot was used as a filming location for the popular British science fiction show, Doctor Who! It appeared in an episode called "The Impossible Astronaut". This episode was the first one of the show's sixth series. It first aired in April 2011 in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia.
