About Long Branch Stream

Long Branch is an important part of the natural environment in central Missouri. Streams like Long Branch help carry water across the land. They also provide homes for many different plants and animals.

Where is Long Branch Located?

The stream starts in the northeastern part of Boone County, Missouri. This is about 1.5 miles west of a town called Centralia. You can find its starting point, also known as its source, at these coordinates: 39°12′31″N 92°10′16″W / 39.20861°N 92.17111°W / 39.20861; -92.17111.

From its source, Long Branch flows mostly north. It travels through the western part of Audrain County. Then, it enters the southwestern part of Monroe County, just west of a small community called Tulip.

The Journey of the Stream

After passing Tulip, the stream makes a turn to the east. For about 17 miles, it generally follows the border between Audrain and Monroe counties. This means it acts like a natural dividing line between the two areas.

Finally, Long Branch turns north again. It flows past the west side of Santa Fe for about 3.5 miles. Its journey ends when it joins the Salt River. This meeting point is called a confluence. The confluence is located at these coordinates: 39°24′10″N 91°49′17″W / 39.40278°N 91.82139°W / 39.40278; -91.82139.
