Lor mee (simplified Chinese: 卤面; traditional Chinese: 滷麵; pinyin: lǔmiàn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: ló͘-mī) is a delicious noodle dish that comes from the Fujian region in China. It's famous for its thick, starchy gravy that coats the noodles. You can find different versions of lor mee in places like Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. In the Philippines, it's even called Lomi or Pancit Lomi.

The special gravy is usually made from corn starch, different spices, meat, seafood, and eggs. When you order lor mee, it often comes with yummy toppings. These can include ngo hiang (a type of fried meat roll), fish cake, pieces of fish, and small meat dumplings. You might also get half a boiled egg. Some stalls might add other special items too!

You can make your lor mee even tastier by adding Vinegar and garlic. Some people also like to add red chili for a bit of a kick. Long ago, traditional lor mee often had crispy fried fish on top, but it's harder to find that version today.

Putian-style Lor Mee

In the Putian cuisine style, lor mee is a bit different. This version is usually lighter and has less starch in its gravy. Instead of lots of meat, Putian-style lor mee often features more seafood.
