Lorin Farr (born July 27, 1820 – died January 12, 1909) was an important Mormon pioneer. He was also the first mayor of Ogden, Utah.

Lorin Farr's Early Life
Lorin Farr was born in Waterford, Vermont. His parents were Winslow Farr and Olive H. Freeman. He was the brother of Winslow Farr, Jr. His brother later became the first bishop of Colonia Dublán, Mexico.
Becoming a Member of the Church
When Lorin was eleven years old, he learned about the LDS church. He was introduced to it by Orson Pratt and Lyman E. Johnson. Lyman E. Johnson baptized Lorin Farr into the church.
Journeys and Missionary Work
The Farr family moved several times. In 1837, they moved to Kirtland, Ohio. Then, in 1838, they moved to Missouri. After that, they settled in Nauvoo, Illinois.
From 1843 to 1844, Lorin Farr served as a missionary. He traveled to many states in the United States to share his beliefs.
In Nauvoo, Lorin Farr lived in a red brick home. It was located near his father's home and the home of Wilford Woodruff. Other neighbors included Stillman Pond and Heber C. Kimball.
In September 1847, Lorin Farr traveled west with other members of the Latter Day Saints. They arrived in the Salt Lake Valley.
Serving the Community in Utah
In 1851, Lorin Farr was asked to lead the new Weber Stake. This meant he had to move to Ogden, Utah.
He became the first mayor of Ogden. He also served as a member of the Utah Territorial Legislature. From 1870 to 1871, he served another mission. This time, he was a missionary in the British Isles.
His Family and Legacy
Lorin Farr had many children. One of his daughters was Sarah Farr. She married Apostle John Henry Smith. Sarah and John Henry Smith were the parents of George Albert Smith. George Albert Smith later became the eighth President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
