Los Testigos, also known as the Aparamán range, is a group of mountains in Bolívar, Venezuela. These mountains are special flat-topped mountains called tepuis. They form a natural bridge between two much larger tepuis: Auyán-tepui to the west and Ptari-tepui to the east.
There are four main peaks in the Los Testigos chain. From west to east, they are:
- Aparamán-tepui (2,100 meters high)
- Murisipán-tepui (2,350 meters high)
- Tereke-yurén-tepui (1,900 meters high)
- Kamarkawarai-tepui (2,400 meters high)
The last three peaks are connected by a shared slope area. Sometimes, you might find different names for these peaks on various maps or in books.
About the Los Testigos Mountains
The flat tops of the Los Testigos mountains cover an area of about 12 square kilometers (4.6 square miles). The slopes around them cover an even larger area, about 116 square kilometers (45 square miles). Most of this mountain chain is located inside Canaima National Park. This park is a huge protected area in Venezuela, known for its amazing landscapes and unique wildlife.
Just west of Los Testigos, you'll find another mountain group called Los Hermanos. This group includes two peaks: Amaruay-tepui and Padapué-tepui. Both Los Testigos and Los Hermanos are found northeast of a place called Kamarata.
