History of Lost Creek
Lost Creek became an official town in 1946. It was named after a nearby stream, also called Lost Creek. The stream got its name from messages carved on trees by early European explorers in the area.
Two important buildings in Lost Creek are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the Daniel Bassel House and the Lost Creek Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Depot. They are protected because of their historical importance.

Lost Creek is found in the southern part of Harrison County. Its exact location is 39°9′30″N 80°20′53″W / 39.15833°N 80.34806°W.
