Louis "Lou" Antonio (born January 23, 1934) is an American actor and TV director. He is well-known for his acting roles in movies like Cool Hand Luke and America America. Lou Antonio also directed many popular television shows.

Early Life and Learning
Lou Antonio was born Louis Demetrios Antoniou in Oklahoma City. His family background includes English, French, German, and Greek roots. When he was a teenager, he worked as a sports reporter for a newspaper called the Daily Oklahoman.
He went to the University of Oklahoma on a special scholarship for journalism. He earned a degree in French. While in college, he also took acting classes and performed on stage. Later, he moved to New York City to study acting even more.
Acting Career Highlights
Lou Antonio started acting on television in the mid-1960s. He often played different characters in the same TV series. Some of the shows he appeared in include Mission: Impossible, Gunsmoke, Hawaii Five-O, and I Dream of Jeannie.
Memorable TV Roles
One of his most famous guest roles was on Bewitched. He played a chimpanzee who turned into a human! He also played Barney in the series The Snoop Sisters.
A very popular role was in Star Trek. He co-starred with Frank Gorshin in an episode called "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield". This episode became one of the most liked Star Trek stories. In 2016, The Hollywood Reporter called it one of the best Star Trek episodes ever.

Lou Antonio's older brother, James Antonio, is also an actor. His sister-in-law, Hilda Brawner, is an actress too.
