The Story of Louisville
The first people to settle permanently in Louisville arrived in 1857. The city was officially planned around 1870. This happened when the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad built its tracks to that spot.
Louisville was probably named after the larger city of Louisville, Kentucky. Some people also say the name came from a local mill owner named Mr. Lois. The current mayor of Louisville is Rodney Petersen, who has lived in the city his whole life.
