Lowell Point is a small community in Alaska, United States. It is located in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, right outside the city of Seward. Lowell Point is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is a community that the government counts for population, but it does not have its own local government like a city or town. In 2020, about 79 people lived there.

Exploring Lowell Point's Location
Lowell Point is found on the eastern side of the Kenai Peninsula. It sits along the western shore of Resurrection Bay. The city of Seward is located just to its northeast. The area covers about 30.9 square kilometers (11.9 square miles). Only a tiny part of this area, about 0.06 square kilometers (0.02 square miles), is water.
How to Reach Lowell Point
The only way to get to Lowell Point by road is using Lowell Point Road. This road is an extension of Seward's Railway Avenue. It starts a short distance southwest of the Alaska SeaLife Center. The road is mostly gravel and runs along a narrow strip of land. This strip is between the mountains and Resurrection Bay. This road also leads to Caines Head State Recreation Area and Fort McGilvray.
Boating and Water Access
Lowell Point does not have a large, formal harbor. The well-developed Seward Harbor is very close by. However, smaller boats can still land directly on the beaches at Lowell Point.
Lowell Point's Population Story
Lowell Point first appeared in the U.S. Census in 1890. At that time, it was the home of Captain Franklin G. Lowell's family. There were 12 residents counted then. The community was not counted again until 2000. In 2000, it was officially recognized as a census-designated place (CDP).
