Her bandmates were Arthur Aguiar, Chay Suede, Micael Borges, Mel Fronckowiak, and Sophia Abrahão. They performed about 90 concerts for over 1.2 million fans across Brazil.

Lua has won many awards, including a 'Vox Populi' award at the Shorty Awards for being a popular actress. She also won every category she was nominated for at the Capricho Awards, which is super impressive! In 2012, she was even voted one of the greatest Brazilians of all time on a TV show, recognized as a "talent of the new generation."

Lua Blanco's Life Story

Growing Up

Lua Blanco was born in São Paulo, Brazil. Her father, Billy Blanco Junior, is a musician, and her mother, Maria Claudia Blanco, is a musician and English teacher. Lua's grandfather, Billy Blanco, was a famous bossa nova artist.

Lua grew up in a big family of musicians. She has an older brother, Pedro Sol, and four younger siblings: Ana Terra, Estrela, Daniel, and Marisol. Their mother taught them at home in both English and Portuguese. The family moved often, even living in Peru for two years. The children loved to make music and work on social projects together.

From a very young age, Lua performed in musicals with her parents and siblings. They even recorded an album called O Trem do Arco-Íris (The Rainbow Train), which had children's songs in Portuguese and English.

Starting Her Career (2005–2010)

After recording a Christmas CD with her family in 2004, Lua and her family band started performing in bars and small places in Rio de Janeiro. They played bossa nova and The Beatles songs.

In 2006, while in college, Lua toured with her new band, Lágrima Flor (Flower's Tear). She was the singer and wrote songs for the band. The band's name was a tribute to her grandfather's music, helping new generations discover his work. After five years, she left the band to work on other exciting projects.

Lua took many classes to improve her acting and singing skills. She studied acting at different schools and took singing lessons.

In 2008, Lua started acting. Her first role on stage was Isolde in a play called Romeu e Isolda. That same year, she appeared in the TV show Três Irmãs (Three Sisters), playing a surfer named Bia.

In 2009, Lua returned to theater in the musical O Despertar da Primavera (Spring Awakening). Out of three thousand people who auditioned, Lua and her siblings Pedro Sol and Estrela were among the 19 chosen! In 2010, they released a soundtrack album for the musical. Lua also played a rock musician named Joe in the TV show Malhação and became a young host for TV Globinho.

In 2010, Lua played Grace in the TV show As Aventuras do Didi. She also re-recorded famous songs like "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton and "Umbrella" by Rihanna for an album called Relaxing Bossa – Volume 4.

In early 2011, Lua appeared in the movie Teus Olhos Meus (Soulbound), directed by Caio Sóh.

Becoming a Star in Rebelde (2011–2013)

Lua Blanco became very well-known for playing Roberta Messi, one of the main characters in the Brazilian version of the TV show Rebelde. This show was inspired by a Mexican TV show. Lua went through many auditions, including acting, dancing, and singing, to get the role of the rebellious Roberta.

Rebelde showed the daily lives of young people at a fancy boarding school. It explored typical teenage problems like bullying and family issues. The show started on March 21, 2011, and ended on October 12, 2012, with 410 episodes over two seasons.

Lua and the five other main actors from Rebelde – Arthur Aguiar, Chay Suede, Mel Fronckowiak, Micael Borges, and Sophia Abrahão – also formed the band Rebeldes. They signed a deal to tour and record music while filming the TV show. They performed about 90 concerts across Brazil over three years. Their first tour had shows where Lua sang "Firework" by Katy Perry for huge crowds. After the TV show ended, they went on a farewell tour called Nada Pode Nos Parar (Nothing Can Stop Us), which was so popular they added more shows!

On September 23, 2011, the band's album Rebeldes was released. It sold about 120,000 copies and earned a platinum award. The music video for their song "Do Jeito Que Eu Sou" (The Way I Am) came out in December of that year.

Achievements with Rebeldes

In early 2012, the six main actors filmed commercials for products that fight pimples. These ads aired later, and fans learned that the company was a sponsor of the band.

On April 11, the band released their first live album and DVD, Rebeldes Live, which was recorded during their shows in São Paulo. The album sold 40,000 copies, earning a gold award, and the DVD sold 50,000 copies, earning a platinum award. They also released a music video for the song "Nada Pode Nos Parar." In June, "Depois da Chuva" (After the Rain) became another popular song. On December 9, 2012, the band released another studio album, Meu Jeito, Seu Jeito (My Way, Your Way).

In 2012, Lua also appeared as an actress in a music video called "Foi o Escolhido" (It was the Chosen) for her old band, Lágrima Flor.

The Rebeldes band performed their last show in Belo Horizonte on May 4, 2013.

After Rebeldes (2013–Present)

In 2013, Lua recorded a song called "Todo Dia" (Every Day) with singer João Teles of Pietros. She also recorded another song, "Tudo Vai Mudar" (Everything Will Change), with Rodrigo Fragoso.

Lua returned to theater in 2013, starring as Anne in the comedy Stand Up. She also worked on the musical As Coisas Que Fizemos e Não Fizemos (The Things We Did and Did not Do).

In July and August 2013, she made special appearances in the play Tudo por um Popstar (Everything for a Popstar). This play was about three friends who travel to see their favorite pop idols. Lua joined the cast on stage to sing "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz and "Meu Jeito Seu Jeito" from the Rebeldes band.

Lua recorded the song "Turnaround" for the film A Brasileira (The Brazilian).

Lua returned to TV shows in Pecado Mortal (Mortal Sin), which started on September 25, 2013. Lua changed her look a lot for this role to fit the 1970s setting of the show.

In early 2014, Lua was cast in Se Eu Fosse Você – O Musical (If I Were You – The Musical). This was a stage version of a popular Brazilian movie. Lua played Bia, the daughter of the main characters. The musical opened on March 21 in Rio de Janeiro.

In late 2014, Lua started filming the movie Turbulência (Turbulence), a romantic comedy. She played Paula, one of the four main characters, and recorded the song "Fall My Way" with singer Kevin White. The movie was released on September 15, 2016.

On December 2, 2015, Lua released a song called "Eu e o Tempo" ("Me and Time") and an e-book about her life to promote her first solo album. She also sold special items to help fund her tour. Another song, "O Mundo Todo" (The Whole World), was released on December 25. On February 27, her first official solo song, "Perde Tudo" (Lose Everything), came out. On March 5 (her 29th birthday), Lua reached her funding goal for her album and tour!

On March 21, Lua sent a digital version of her first solo album, Mão No Sonho (Hand In The Dream), to her fans who had supported her. The album includes songs with her brothers and fellow Rebeldes member Micael Borges. Lua officially released Mão No Sonho on September 2, 2016, with a music video released on September 9.
