Lua grew up in a big family of musicians. She has an older brother, Pedro Sol, and four younger siblings: Ana Terra, Estrela, Daniel, and Marisol. Their mother taught them at home in both English and Portuguese. The family moved often, even living in Peru for two years. The children loved to make music and work on social projects together.
From a very young age, Lua performed in musicals with her parents and siblings. They even recorded an album called O Trem do Arco-Íris (The Rainbow Train), which had children's songs in Portuguese and English.
Starting Her Career (2005–2010)
After recording a Christmas CD with her family in 2004, Lua and her family band started performing in bars and small places in Rio de Janeiro. They played bossa nova and The Beatles songs.
In 2006, while in college, Lua toured with her new band, Lágrima Flor (Flower's Tear). She was the singer and wrote songs for the band. The band's name was a tribute to her grandfather's music, helping new generations discover his work. After five years, she left the band to work on other exciting projects.
Lua took many classes to improve her acting and singing skills. She studied acting at different schools and took singing lessons.
In 2008, Lua started acting. Her first role on stage was Isolde in a play called Romeu e Isolda. That same year, she appeared in the TV show Três Irmãs (Three Sisters), playing a surfer named Bia.
In 2009, Lua returned to theater in the musical O Despertar da Primavera (Spring Awakening). Out of three thousand people who auditioned, Lua and her siblings Pedro Sol and Estrela were among the 19 chosen! In 2010, they released a soundtrack album for the musical. Becoming a Star in Rebelde (2011–2013)
Lua Blanco became very well-known for playing Roberta Messi, one of the main characters in the Brazilian version of the TV show Rebelde. This show was inspired by a Mexican TV show. Lua went through many auditions, including acting, dancing, and singing, to get the role of the rebellious Roberta.
Rebelde showed the daily lives of young people at a fancy boarding school. It explored typical teenage problems like bullying and family issues. The show started on March 21, 2011, and ended on October 12, 2012, with 410 episodes over two seasons.
Lua and the five other main actors from Rebelde – Arthur Aguiar, Chay Suede, Mel Fronckowiak, Micael Borges, and Sophia Abrahão – also formed the band Rebeldes. They signed a deal to tour and record music while filming the TV show. They performed about 90 concerts across Brazil over three years. Their first tour had shows where Lua sang "Firework" by Katy Perry for huge crowds. After the TV show ended, they went on a farewell tour called Nada Pode Nos Parar (Nothing Can Stop Us), which was so popular they added more shows!
On September 23, 2011, the band's album Rebeldes was released. It sold about 120,000 copies and earned a platinum award. The music video for their song "Do Jeito Que Eu Sou" (The Way I Am) came out in December of that year.

The album sold 40,000 copies, earning a gold award, and the DVD sold 50,000 copies, earning a platinum award. They also released a music video for the song "Nada Pode Nos Parar." In June, "Depois da Chuva" (After the Rain) became another popular song. On December 9, 2012, the band released another studio album, Meu Jeito, Seu Jeito (My Way, Your Way).
In 2012, Lua also appeared as an actress in a music video called "Foi o Escolhido" (It was the Chosen) for her old band, Lágrima Flor.
