Lucie Jones's Early Life and Career
Lucie Jones grew up in Pentyrch, a small village near Cardiff, Wales. When she was younger, she was a Scout. In 2007, she was the main singer at the World Scout Jamboree, performing the theme song "Jambo". She also took part in Cardiff's own Scout and Guide Gang Show. In 2017, Lucie married Ethan Boroian, who was also a contestant on The X Factor.
Competing on The X Factor
Lucie Jones auditioned for The X Factor UK in 2009. She sang "I Will Always Love You" and impressed the judges. She made it to the live shows, where she was guided by mentor Dannii Minogue.
Lucie was eliminated in week five of the competition. She was in the bottom two against a duo called John & Edward. The judges' votes were tied, so the decision went to a "deadlock," meaning the public's votes decided who stayed. Many viewers were upset when Lucie was sent home.
Lucie's Journey in West End Theatre
After The X Factor, Lucie Jones started a modeling career. She also began performing in famous West End musicals. In 2010, she was chosen by Cameron Mackintosh to play the role of Cosette in Les Misérables.
Lucie continued to perform in many popular shows. She played Meat in the 2013 tour of We Will Rock You. She also appeared as Victoria in American Psycho in 2013. In 2015, she was Molly in the Chinese tour of Ghost the Musical. A big role for her was playing Elle Woods in Legally Blonde in 2016, a role she played again on a UK tour from 2017 to 2018.
Representing the UK at Eurovision 2017

In January 2017, Lucie Jones competed in a show called Eurovision: You Decide. This show helps choose who will represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song, "Never Give Up on You", was co-written by Emmelie de Forest, who won Eurovision in 2013.
On January 27, 2017, Lucie won the show. This meant she would represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. At the Grand Final, Lucie performed her song and earned 111 points from both the jury and public votes. She even received 12 points from the Australian professional jury.
Lucie's Return to Musical Theatre
After Eurovision, Lucie Jones returned to her love for musical theatre. On June 17, 2019, she made her debut as Jenna in the musical Waitress. She played this role for a long time, even reprising it for the UK & Ireland tour that started in September 2021.
In summer 2021, Lucie also took on the role of Fantine in the West End production of Les Misérables. She finished this role in August 2021 to go back to Waitress.
A big highlight was when Lucie made her debut as Elphaba in Wicked at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre on February 1, 2022. She performed as Elphaba until March 4, 2023. After that, she returned to play Fantine in Les Misérables again on March 27, 2023. She also played Catherine in a concert production of Pippin in London in April 2024. In summer 2024, she played Genevieve in The Baker's Wife.
Lucie Jones is also set to star as Jenna Rink in the new musical 13 Going on 30, which will open on September 21, 2025, in Manchester. This show is based on the movie of the same name.
