Luís Mesquita de Oliveira, known best as Luisinho, was a fantastic Brazilian football player. He was one of the most valuable strikers of the 1930s. Luisinho was born on March 29, 1911, in Rio de Janeiro. He passed away on December 27, 1983, in São Paulo, at 72 years old.

Luisinho's Amazing Football Career

Luisinho played football for many years, from 1928 to 1946. He played for several teams during his career. These included Anglo Brasileira, Paulistano, and Estudantes São Paulo.

He also played for two very famous Brazilian clubs. These were São Paulo and Palmeiras. He was a top player for both teams.

Winning Championships

Luisinho helped his teams win many important titles. He won the São Paulo State Championship seven times! These victories happened in 1929, 1931, 1936, 1940, 1943, 1945, and 1946.

He was also the top goalscorer in the Campeonato Paulista in 1944. He scored 22 goals that year, which was an amazing achievement.

Scoring Goals for His Clubs

Luisinho was a very skilled goalscorer. He is the sixth-best goalscorer in the history of São Paulo Futebol Clube. He scored 145 goals for them!

He also scored many goals for Palmeiras. He is the ninth-best goalscorer in Palmeiras history. He scored 123 goals for Palmeiras between 1935 and 1941.

Playing for Brazil

Luisinho also played for the Brazil national football team. He scored 4 goals for Brazil in the South American Championship 1937.

He also represented Brazil in two FIFA World Cup tournaments. He played in the 1934 FIFA World Cup. In that tournament, he played one match against Spain in Genoa.

He also played in the 1938 FIFA World Cup. In this World Cup, he played two matches for Brazil. Brazil finished in third place in the 1938 World Cup, which was a great result!
