History of Lushton
Lushton was started in 1887. This happened when the Kansas City & Omaha Railroad built its tracks to this area. The village was named after an important person who worked for the railroad company.
A post office opened in Lushton in 1887. It served the community for many years. The post office closed down in 1965.

In 2010, a survey called the census counted 30 people living in Lushton. These people lived in 15 different homes, and 10 of those were families. The village had 18 housing units. All the people living in Lushton were White.
