Lyle Corbine Jr.'s Early Life and School
Lyle Corbine Jr. was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He is part of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians. This means his family is officially recognized as part of this Native American tribe. His dad, Mitch Corbine, managed casinos that were owned by Native American tribes. His mom, Carole Livingston, was a psychologist. She worked for the Indian Health Service, which helps Native American communities with healthcare. Lyle grew up in different small towns. He also lived on Indian reservations in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He went to the University of Minnesota. There, he studied English and Philosophy.
Lyle Corbine Jr.'s Filmmaking Career
Corbine started making movies by creating fourteen films with very little money. Later, two of his short films were chosen to be shown at big film festivals. These included the Sundance Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. In 2019, Filmmaker magazine named him one of the "25 New Faces of Indie Film." This award recognizes new and exciting independent filmmakers. He then worked with the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program. This program helped him make his first full-length movie, Wild Indian.
