Lynnie Greene, born on May 21, 1954, is a talented American actress, writer, director, and producer. She has worked on many television shows and films. You might know her best for playing a younger version of Dorothy in the popular TV show The Golden Girls.

Early Life and Education

Lynnie Greene grew up in Newton, Massachusetts. She attended Newton South High School, where she was very involved in school plays.

In 1972, she was chosen to join the Drama Department at the Juilliard School. She was one of only 10 women picked that year to study acting. She later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University in 1976.

Career in Entertainment

Acting Roles: 1978-1993

Lynnie Greene started her acting career in 1977. She co-starred with Bess Armstrong in a short-lived CBS comedy called On Our Own. In this show, she played the character Maria Teresa Bonino.

She also performed in theater. She played the role of Emma Goldman in the original off-Broadway musical Assassins in 1990–91. She also appeared in a 1987 version of the musical Flora the Red Menace.

One of her most memorable acting roles was in The Golden Girls. She appeared in four episodes as a younger version of Dorothy Zbornak, played by Bea Arthur. These were flashback scenes showing Dorothy's earlier life.

Television Writing and Producing: 1993-Present

After her acting years, Lynnie Greene moved into writing and producing for television. She has been an executive producer and writer for several series.

She worked on the show Nip/Tuck and Boss. She also worked on the ABC series Scoundrels, which was based on a New Zealand TV show.

More recently, Greene was an executive producer for the 2016 Amazon mini-series The Interestings. This show was based on a novel by Meg Wolitzer. In 2018, she was also an executive producer for The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair. This mini-series was based on a 2014 novel by Joël Dicker. Lynnie Greene often works with her writing partner, Richard Levine.
