Máncora is a lively town and popular beach resort in northwestern Peru. It is found in the Piura Region, within the Talara Province. In 2007, about 10,547 people lived there.
The main road through Máncora is part of the famous Pan-American Highway. This area is well-known for its beautiful turquoise beaches and excellent waves. This makes Máncora a top spot for surfing. Many beach resorts welcome visitors from all over South America. In 2005, about 340,000 tourists came to enjoy Máncora.

Máncora's Climate
Máncora enjoys a warm climate all year round. The average temperature is about 29°C.
Hot Season
The hottest months are from November to May. During this time, you might see light rains at night. Temperatures can easily reach 35°C, especially in February and March. If the El Niño phenomenon happens, temperatures can even go up to 40°C.
Cooler Season
For the rest of the year, the daytime temperature rarely drops below 25°C or 26°C. However, during the cooler winter months (June to September), nights are cool and windy. The lowest temperature can drop to 19°C.
Spring and Autumn
Spring (October and November) and autumn (May and June) have pleasant temperatures. These usually range between 20°C and 30°C.
Ocean Temperature
The sea temperature near Piura and Tumbes also changes. From December to May, the water is warm, usually between 24°C and 26°C. For the rest of the year, it is a bit cooler, from 21°C to 23°C. This is warmer than other Peruvian beaches further south. This difference is due to the strong influence of the Humboldt current.
