About Monica Cosachov
Monica Cosachov was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She started her music journey by studying composition, piano, and harpsichord at the National Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires. Later, she continued her studies at famous music schools in Italy, like the Yehudi Menuhin International Academy. While learning, she became very interested in chamber music, which is music played by a small group of instruments.
Monica's Music Career
Monica Cosachov has been involved with the Camping Musical Bariloche music festival. She helped start the Camerata Bariloche, a well-known music group, and was a soloist with them. She also became the Director of Research and Teaching at the Bariloche Foundation.
Her work often combines different subjects, like music and science. This led her to teach as a visiting professor at universities and research centers in other countries.
Teaching and Leadership
Monica Cosachov is currently the Director of the Interdisciplinary School of Music. This school is a training center for artists and also works on social projects. For her creative work and for helping young artists, she won the Alicia Moreau de Justo prize.
Argentina is part of the Council of Unesco, a United Nations organization. Through this connection, Monica has taught special classes in Argentina and at universities in other countries. Her works Los Siete Escalones Místicos and Los Tres Estados del Dragón were first performed at the Festival of Sacred Music in Ljubljana, Poland, and Trieste, Italy. In 2002, she released a music CD called Bach De Buenos Aires. More recently, she released her latest music production, Mi Corazón es mi casa.
Besides composing music, Monica Cosachov is also an author. She wrote a book called Musicos, los mensajeros del sonido (Musicians, the Messengers of Sound), which was published in 1988.
