  • Roads in the United Kingdom

The M898 is a very short motorway located in the United Kingdom. It is only about half a mile (0.5 miles) long, making it the shortest motorway in the country!

This motorway is found in Renfrewshire, Scotland. It connects the busy M8 motorway directly to the town of Erskine. Once the M898 ends, the road continues as the A898. This A898 road then leads to the famous Erskine Bridge, which crosses over the River Clyde.

Where the M898 Connects

The M898 motorway has a few important connections that help drivers get to different places. Think of these as special exits or entrances.

  • Starting Point (Southbound): If you are driving south on the M898, the motorway officially begins after you leave the M8 motorway. From here, you can head towards Greenock on the M8.
  • Junction 1 (Northbound): When driving north on the M898, you'll find Junction 1. This exit allows you to go to Erskine using the A726 road, or to Bishopton on the B815 road. There is no exit here if you are driving south.
  • Junction M8 J30 (Northbound): There is no exit from the M898 northbound at this point.
  • Junction M8 J30 (Southbound): If you are driving south on the M898, this is where you can join the M8 motorway. From here, you can travel towards Glasgow or Glasgow Airport.
  • End Point (Northbound): If you are driving north on the M898, the motorway ends and the road becomes the A898. This road will take you to the Erskine Bridge and further north towards Crianlarich (A82).
