The Macarao National Park (which in Spanish is called Parque nacional Macarao) is a special protected area in Venezuela. It's a national park located in the northern part of this South American country. The park covers a large area of 15,000 hectares (that's about 150 square kilometers!). It stretches across parts of the Capital District and Miranda State. This important natural space became a National Park in 1973.

Why Macarao Park is Important

Macarao National Park plays a super important role for the people living nearby. It helps protect the rivers and water sources in the area. These rivers, like the Macarao, San Pedro, and Jarillo, provide much of the drinking water for the big city of Caracas. So, the park helps make sure people have clean water to drink every day.

Exploring the Park's Landscape

The park is known for its beautiful mountains. These mountains are part of a larger chain called the Cordillera de la Costa. The highest point you can find in the park is a peak called Alto de Ño León.
