Mackenzie Rio Davis (born April 1, 1987) is a talented Canadian actress. She started her movie career in the drama film Smashed (2012). In 2013, she appeared in The F Word. For this role, she was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress.
From 2014 to 2017, she played Cameron Howe, a computer programmer, in the TV series Halt and Catch Fire. In 2016, Davis starred in the Black Mirror episode "San Junipero". This episode won two Emmy Awards, and she received great praise for her acting.
She also appeared in popular films like The Martian (2015) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017). In 2018, she played the main character in the comedy-drama Tully. Later, she starred as an advanced super-soldier in Terminator: Dark Fate (2019). She also co-starred in the romantic comedy Happiest Season (2020). Mackenzie Davis was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her mother, Lotte, is a graphic designer. Her father, John Davis, is a hairdresser from Liverpool, England. Her parents own a company called AG Hair.
She finished school at Collingwood School in West Vancouver in 2005. After that, she went to McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She then decided to study acting. She attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City.

Davis's first major movie was Smashed. In 2015, she played Mindy Park in The Martian. Her character was a NASA satellite communications engineer.
