Mackenzie Rosman's Acting Journey
Starting Her Career
Mackenzie Rosman began her acting career at a young age. In 1996, she got the role of Ruthie Camden on the TV show 7th Heaven. She impressed everyone at her audition by shaking hands with each person.
Before 7th Heaven, Mackenzie appeared in many TV commercials. She started acting in commercials when she was just four years old. Some of these included ads for Tuff's Diapers and Nike shoes.
Movies and Other TV Shows
Besides 7th Heaven, Mackenzie also acted in movies. She was in the independent film Gideon in 1998. Famous actors like Christopher Lambert and Charlton Heston were also in this movie.
In 2009, Mackenzie played Loreli in the film The Tomb. This movie was inspired by a story from Edgar Allan Poe. She also appeared in the horror film Fading of the Cries in 2011, playing a character named Jill.
Mackenzie also had a role in the teen drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager. She played Zoe in four episodes of the show between 2010 and 2011. In 2013, she acted in the horror film Beneath. She also appeared in the TV movie Ghost Shark that same year.
Recent Projects
In April 2024, it was announced that Mackenzie would start a new project. She began co-hosting a 7th Heaven rewatch podcast. Her former co-stars, Beverley Mitchell and David Gallagher, joined her. The podcast is called Catching up with the Camdens!.
Mackenzie Rosman's Personal Life
Love for Animals
Outside of acting, Mackenzie Rosman loves spending time with animals. She owns many horses. She is also a competitive show jumper. This means she rides her horse, Mentos Junior, in jumping competitions.
Supporting Important Causes
Mackenzie is a strong supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She helps raise money for this organization. She also wants to teach people about the importance of organ donation.
Her stepsister, Katelyn Salmont, had cystic fibrosis. Katelyn received a successful double lung transplant in 2005. Mackenzie's father, Randy, donated one of the organs. Both Mackenzie and Katelyn were featured in Teen People magazine. They were named among "20 Teens Who Will Change the World."
7th Heaven even had a special episode about cystic fibrosis. It was called "Back in the Saddle." Katelyn Salmont appeared as herself in this episode. She and Mackenzie rode horses together, just like they did at home. Katelyn also appeared in another 7th Heaven episode in 2005. She talked about her new life after the transplant. Sadly, Katelyn passed away in 2008 from pneumonia and cystic fibrosis.
Mackenzie also supports Childhelp Inc. This organization helps children who have been severely abused. She is an ambassador for them. She is also the national honorary chairman for CureFinders. This is a school fundraising program that helps fund research for a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Family and Education
Mackenzie graduated from Valencia High School in May 2007.
In 2022, Mackenzie became a mother. She gave birth to her daughter, Ophelia Katelyn. As of early 2017, she lives on a farm in Baltimore County, Maryland. She is raising her daughter there.
