Mackenzie Soldan (born May 14, 1992) is an amazing American athlete. She is well-known for playing both wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis. Mackenzie has proudly represented the United States in major international sports events. She won two gold medals at the 2011 Parapan American Games. She also competed in wheelchair tennis at the 2012 London Paralympics. Later, she played wheelchair basketball at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. Mackenzie has been a key player for the U.S. women's wheelchair basketball team since 2013.

Mackenzie's Early Life

Mackenzie Soldan was born in Saginaw, Michigan. When she was just two years old, she lost the use of her legs. This happened because of a spinal cord tumor. Despite this, Mackenzie found a passion for sports.

She graduated from Christian Academy of Louisville at age 18. During her time in high school, Mackenzie was a top-ranked junior wheelchair tennis player. She was also the number one player in the women's division. In 2010, her love for basketball led her to join the University of Alabama's wheelchair basketball team. There, she quickly became a national number one ranked player.

Amazing Sports Career

In late October 2011, Mackenzie received an exciting phone call. She learned she might qualify for the Parapan American Games. Mackenzie decided to go and achieved great success. She brought home two gold medals for the United States. One was for singles in wheelchair tennis, and the other was for doubles. After winning these medals, she also had the honor of carrying the American flag. Her coach had given her this special flag.

Mackenzie continued to compete at a high level. She represented the United States at the 2022 Wheelchair Basketball World Championships. At this event, her team won a bronze medal, showing their strength and teamwork.

Life Off the Court

Mackenzie Soldan currently lives in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. When she is not playing sports, she enjoys other hobbies. She loves to play both the guitar and the piano.

Mackenzie has been involved in many teams throughout her career. In 2007, she was part of the U.S. Under 19 Wheelchair Basketball Team. In 2011, she won a gold medal with the U.S. Under 25 Team. That same year, Mackenzie was a member of the Collegiate National Wheelchair Basketball Championship team. She proudly represented the University of Alabama in this competition. In 2016, Mackenzie completed her master's degree in marketing.
