Madiha Yousri (Arabic: مديحة يسري), born Hannouma Habib Khalil Ali, was a famous Egyptian actress. She was born on December 3, 1921, and passed away on May 29, 2018. Madiha Yousri starred in many classic Egyptian films and TV shows. Her acting career lasted for over 50 years. She played all kinds of roles, from serious dramas to funny comedies. Madiha Yousri was also known for supporting Egypt's leaders and important national events. In 1998, she was chosen by President Hosni Mubarak to be part of the Shura Council. This council helped advise the government.

Early Life

Madiha Yousri was born in Cairo, Egypt, on December 3, 1921. Her birth name was Honouma Habib Khalil Ali. She grew up in a regular family in a simple neighborhood in Cairo.

Her Acting Career

Madiha Yousri was discovered by the Egyptian director Mohammed Karim. She met him by chance while sitting with friends at a cafe. She remembered thinking her father would never let her become an actress.

Her first movie role was in 1940, in a film called Mamnau'a Al-Hub (which means Forbidden Love). She appeared in many movies after that. She acted alongside famous Egyptian musicians like Abdel-Halim Hafez, Mohamed Fawzi, and Farid Al-Atrash.

In the 1940s, Time magazine chose Madiha Yousri as one of the world's 10 most beautiful women. This was a big honor! In 1963, she received Egypt's State Medal of Creativity. This award recognized her amazing artistic talents.

In 1969, Madiha Yousri was a judge at the 6th Moscow International Film Festival. She was well-known for her romantic roles in Egyptian cinema. Later in her career, she also acted in many Egyptian TV series. In these shows, she often played the role of a mother or grandmother.

Towards the end of her life, Madiha Yousri received an honorary doctorate from the Egyptian Arts Academy. This was another special award for her long and successful career.

Her Passing

Madiha Yousri passed away on May 29, 2018. She was 96 years old. She died in a local hospital after a long illness.
