The Maha Music Festival is a cool music event held every year in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. It's run by a non-profit group called YFC, Inc., which means they don't do it to make money. The festival brings together different kinds of music, like rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic sounds.

The Early Years: Starting Big
2009: The First Maha Festival
The very first Maha Music Festival happened on Saturday, August 29, 2009. It was held at Lewis and Clark Landing. Big bands like Dashboard Confessional and G. Love & Special Sauce were the main acts. Other cool bands included Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Serena Ryder. Four local bands from Omaha also got to play on a special stage.

2010: Growing Stronger
In 2010, Maha was held on Saturday, July 24, again at Lewis and Clark Landing. This year, Spoon and The Faint were the headliners. Other popular bands like Superchunk and Old 97's also played. Local bands like Satchel Grande and The Mynabirds were featured on their own stage. People really loved Maha 2010, calling it the "Best Outdoor Festival" in Omaha!

2011: A New Home
The third Maha Festival had to move because of floods! It moved from Lewis and Clark Landing to Stinson Park at Aksarben Village. The date also changed to August 13. Guided by Voices and Matisyahu were the main bands. Other great acts included Cursive and J Mascis. About 4,000 people came to this festival.

Later Years: Bigger and Better
2012: Record Attendance
The fourth Maha Festival was held on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Stinson Park. The headliners were Garbage and Desaparecidos. Other bands included Delta Spirit and Dum Dum Girls. More than 4,300 people attended, making it the biggest Maha yet!

2013: Adding New Experiences
Maha returned to Stinson Park on August 17, 2013. The Flaming Lips were the headliners, known for their amazing live shows. Other bands included Matt & Kim and Bob Mould. For the first time, the festival added "The Globe," a tent for live comedy and poetry. Attendance grew again, with over 5,100 people joining the fun.

2014: Even More Fun
The sixth Maha Festival was on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Stinson Park. Death Cab for Cutie was the main band, along with The Head and the Heart and Local Natives. The Globe tent came back with more comedy and poetry. New things this year included a ferris wheel, a game truck, and a phone charging station! Attendance jumped to over 7,000 people.

2015: A Sold-Out Show
The seventh Maha Festival happened on Saturday, August 15, 2015. This year, it sold out for the first time! Over 9,000 people attended. The main bands were Modest Mouse and Atmosphere. Other cool acts included Purity Ring and Wavves. New additions to the festival grounds included a rock climbing wall and a human foosball court.

2016: Special Guests
The eighth Maha Festival took place on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Passion Pit and Grimes were the headliners. This year, the festival had its first European band, The Joy Formidable. Even famous investor Warren Buffett made an appearance to introduce a band and talk about voting!

2017: Ninth Festival
The ninth Maha Music Festival was held on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Run the Jewels were the main act. Other bands included Belle and Sebastian, The Faint, and Sleigh Bells.

2018: Ten Years of Music
Maha Music Festival celebrated its tenth birthday in 2018! It grew to two days, Friday, August 17, and Saturday, August 18. Weezer and Father John Misty were big names on Saturday. TV On the Radio headlined Friday night. About 6,500 people came on Friday alone!

2019: A Festival Week
The eleventh Maha Festival, now called just Maha Festival, became a four-day event! It ran from Wednesday, August 14, to Saturday, August 17. The first day had events in different places around Omaha. The second day included a conference about new ideas, plus a concert. The last two days were at Aksarben Village. A total of 14,500 people attended this big festival week!
