Makram Jamil Khoury (Arabic: مكرم يعقوب خوري, Hebrew: מכרם חורי) is a well-known Israeli-Arab actor. He was born on May 30, 1945, in Jerusalem. He holds a special place in history as the youngest artist and the first Arab person to receive the Israel Prize. This award is the highest honor a civilian can get in Israel.

Makram Khoury's Life Story
Makram J. Khoury was born into a Palestinian-Christian family. His father was a judge, and his mother was a teacher. They lived in the al-Sheikh Jarrah area of Jerusalem.
Early Life and Family
During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, his family moved to Lebanon for a short time. About a year later, they came back to what was then the new State of Israel. The family settled in the port city of Acre, which is close to Haifa.
Makram went to school in Acre and in the nearby village of Kufr Yasif. He finished high school in 1963. After that, he started studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. However, he soon decided to leave university to follow his dream of becoming an actor.
Makram's children have also become actors. His oldest daughter, Clara Khoury, is an actress in Israel. She has appeared in several international films. These include Rana’s Wedding (2002), The Syrian Bride (2004), and Lipstikka (2011). His son, Jameel Khoury, is also an actor. He was in the film Body of Lies (2008), directed by Ridley Scott.
Becoming an Actor
Makram Khoury trained to be an actor in Israel. From 1970 to 1973, he studied at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, England.
After his studies, he joined the Cameri Theater in Tel Aviv. Later, he became a member of the Haifa Municipal Theater. He worked with the Haifa Municipal Theater for twenty years.
Makram returned to Haifa after touring for a year. During that time, he played the character Tierno Bokar in Peter Brook's play 11 and 12.
