Malå Municipality (in Swedish: Malå kommun; in Sami: Málágen kommuvdna) is a special area in northern Sweden. It is part of Västerbotten County. The main town and administrative center of this municipality is Malå.

History of Malå Municipality
Malå Municipality has an interesting history. For a short time, between 1974 and 1982, it was part of another municipality called Norsjö Municipality. But in 1983, Malå Municipality became its own separate area again. It went back to its original borders.
Geography of Malå Municipality
Malå Municipality is located in the province of Lapland. This area is known for its beautiful, untouched nature and lots of wildlife. There are not many people living here, so it feels very wild and peaceful.
Sami People in Malå
Malå Municipality is also one of the southernmost places where the native Sami people live. The Sami are an Indigenous group in northern Europe.

The closest towns to Malå are Arvidsjaur and Lycksele. They are about 80 kilometers away, which takes about an hour to drive. Both of these towns have airports. From these airports, you can fly to bigger cities like Stockholm.
