Mal Paso is a barrio, which is like a neighborhood or district, in the town of Aguada, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 2,483 people lived in Mal Paso. It covers an area of about 0.93 square miles.
History of Mal Paso
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States in 1898. This was part of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States Department of War counted the people in Puerto Rico. They found that Mal Paso and a nearby area called Guanábano had a combined population of 723 people.
