Malakand Division facts for kids
Malakand Division was a special area in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Think of it like a big region that helped manage the government in that part of the country.
It was one of the many divisions that helped organize Pakistan. However, in the year 2000, some changes were made to how the government was set up, and Malakand Division stopped being a separate administrative area.
History of Malakand Division
Before 1969, some parts of this region were known as 'princely states'. These were areas that had their own rulers, almost like small kingdoms.
In 1969, three of these princely states – Chitral, Dir, and Swat – became part of West Pakistan. When this happened, they were all brought together to form the new Malakand Division.
The main city and capital of this new division was Saidu. This is where many important decisions for the area were made.
