Malcolm Hill (born October 26, 1995) is an American professional basketball player. He last played for the New Orleans Pelicans in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also played for the Birmingham Squadron in the NBA G League as part of a two-way contract. Before becoming a professional, he played college basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini.

High School Basketball Journey
Malcolm Hill grew up in Belleville, Illinois. He started playing basketball, soccer, and baseball. By fifth grade, he decided to focus only on basketball. His dad, Malcolm, also played college basketball.
Becoming a Star Player
During his junior year of high school, Malcolm was amazing. He scored about 24 points per game. He also shot very well from the three-point line. In September 2011, he decided he wanted to play for the University of Illinois.
Many other big schools were interested in him. These included Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio State. But Malcolm chose Illinois.
Senior Year Success
In his final year at Belleville East High School, Malcolm scored even more points. He broke his own record with 708 points that season. He averaged over 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. He was one of the top high school players in Illinois.
After a new coach, John Groce, joined Illinois, Malcolm confirmed his decision. He officially signed with the university in November 2012.
College Basketball Career
Malcolm Hill played college basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini from 2013 to 2017. He quickly became an important player for the team.
Freshman and Sophomore Years
Malcolm made his first start for Illinois in February 2014. He scored 11 points in that game. This helped his team end a long losing streak.
In January 2015, during his sophomore year, Malcolm had a fantastic game. He scored a career-high 28 points. This helped Illinois win against a highly ranked team, Maryland. This was especially important because Illinois' top scorer was injured.
Junior and Senior Years
As a junior, Malcolm was recognized as one of the best college shooting guards. He was a finalist for the Jerry West Award. He also set a new personal record by scoring 39 points in one game. This was one of the highest scores ever by an Illinois player.
After his junior year, Malcolm became the only Illinois player to achieve a special record. He had over 600 points, 200 rebounds, and 100 assists in a single season. In November 2016, he scored an incredible 40 points in a game. After his senior season, he was invited to a special tournament for top college seniors.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Malcolm Hill began his professional basketball career. He played for teams in different countries and in the NBA.
Starting in the Philippines and Germany (2017–2019)
Malcolm was not chosen in the 2017 NBA draft. However, he joined the Oklahoma City Thunder for the NBA Summer League. Soon after, he signed with the Star Hotshots in the Philippines. He played very well there, averaging 26 points per game.
In September 2017, Malcolm moved to Germany. He signed with Telekom Baskets Bonn. After one season, he joined the Utah Jazz for the 2018 NBA Summer League. Then, he signed with another German team, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, for the 2018–2019 season.
Playing in Kazakhstan and Israel (2019–2021)
In August 2019, Malcolm signed with BC Astana in Kazakhstan. He continued to be a strong scorer, averaging over 20 points per game. He also played in a special tournament called The Basketball Tournament in 2020.
In August 2020, Malcolm moved to Israel. He signed with Hapoel Jerusalem.
NBA and G League Experience (2021–2024)
In October 2021, Malcolm signed with the New Orleans Pelicans but was later waived. He then joined the Birmingham Squadron in the NBA G League. He played well, averaging nearly 17 points per game.
Later in December 2021, Malcolm signed a short contract with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA. He played in three games for them.
In January 2022, he signed with the Chicago Bulls. He first signed a short contract, then a two-way contract. This meant he could play for both the Bulls and their G League team, the Windy City Bulls. He re-signed with the Bulls on another two-way contract in September 2022 but was waived in February 2023.
Malcolm returned to the Birmingham Squadron in February 2023. He signed with the New Orleans Pelicans again in September 2023 but was waived. He then re-signed with Birmingham. In January 2024, he signed another short contract with the Pelicans. He returned to Birmingham in February 2024 and signed another two-way contract with the Pelicans. He was waived by the Pelicans in October 2024.

Personal Life and Health
Malcolm Hill was born in St. Louis, Missouri. When he was four, his family moved to Belleville, Illinois.
In the summer of 2012, Malcolm had a health issue. He was diagnosed with Thoracic outlet syndrome. This meant he had a blood clot in his upper right arm. He had surgery to fix it and recovered fully after several months.
