High School Basketball Journey

Malcolm Hill grew up in Belleville, Illinois. He started playing basketball, soccer, and baseball. By fifth grade, he decided to focus only on basketball. His dad, Malcolm, also played college basketball.

Becoming a Star Player

During his junior year of high school, Malcolm was amazing. He scored about 24 points per game. He also shot very well from the three-point line. In September 2011, he decided he wanted to play for the University of Illinois.

Many other big schools were interested in him. These included Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio State. But Malcolm chose Illinois.

Senior Year Success

In his final year at Belleville East High School, Malcolm scored even more points. He broke his own record with 708 points that season. He averaged over 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. He was one of the top high school players in Illinois.

After a new coach, John Groce, joined Illinois, Malcolm confirmed his decision. He officially signed with the university in November 2012.
