Malik Jabari Rose (born November 23, 1974) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Malik Rose is best known for winning two NBA championships with the San Antonio Spurs in 1999 and 2003. After his playing career, he became a successful basketball executive.

Early Life and College Basketball
Malik Rose was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went to Overbrook High School, which is famous for another basketball legend, Wilt Chamberlain.
After high school, Malik played college basketball at Drexel University. He was an amazing player there, averaging over 16 points and 12 rebounds per game. In 1996, he helped the Dragons win their only NCAA Tournament game. They beat the University of Memphis 75–63 in an exciting upset! Malik was even named an All-American for his great college performance. In 2011, his 1995-96 Drexel team was honored in the Drexel Athletic Hall of Fame.
Malik Rose's NBA Career
Malik Rose was chosen by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1996 NBA Draft. He was only the second player from Drexel to make it to the NBA. In 1997, he joined the San Antonio Spurs. Fans quickly loved him because he played with a lot of energy and was great at defense, even though he wasn't the tallest player.
Winning Championships with the Spurs
Malik Rose was a key part of the Spurs teams that won NBA championships in 1999 and 2003. These were big moments in his career! He played alongside famous players like Tim Duncan and David Robinson.
Moving to Other Teams
In 2005, Malik was traded to the New York Knicks. He played for the Knicks for four years. One memorable game was in 2007, when he almost got a "triple-double" (scoring big in three different stats) against the Charlotte Bobcats. Later, in 2009, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He finished his playing career with the Thunder.
A Memorable Playoff Game
In the 2002 NBA Playoffs, the Spurs were playing the Seattle SuperSonics. Their star players, Tim Duncan and David Robinson, were out. Malik Rose stepped up as a starter and had an incredible game! He scored 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Even though the Spurs lost, Malik's effort was truly inspiring.
Life After Playing Basketball
After retiring from playing, Malik Rose stayed involved with basketball. He became a TV analyst for the Madison Square Garden Network, talking about his former team, the New York Knicks. He also worked as a commentator for the NBA G League team, the Austin Toros.
From 2011 to 2015, Malik was a TV commentator for the Philadelphia 76ers. He also made appearances on NBA TV.
Becoming a Basketball Executive
In 2015, Malik Rose joined the Atlanta Hawks as a manager of basketball operations. He then became the general manager for the Erie BayHawks, which is the Hawks' G League team. In 2018, he was named the G League's Basketball Executive of the Year! This award showed how great he was at managing a team.
After that, Malik worked as an assistant general manager for the Detroit Pistons. In 2020, he moved to a big role in the NBA's main office. He became the vice president of basketball operations. By 2022, he was named the Head of Basketball Operations for the NBA G-League.
Outside of basketball, Malik Rose is known for his charity work in San Antonio. He also owned a restaurant called 'Malik's Philly's Phamous,' which served delicious cheesesteak sandwiches.
