Who is Mamady Youla?
Mamady Youla was born in 1961. He grew up in Conakry, the capital city of Guinea. He later studied at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University.
Early Career and Business Experience
Before becoming Prime Minister, Mr. Youla had a lot of experience in business. From 2004 to 2015, he was the managing director of Guinea Alumina Corporation. This company is involved in mining, which means digging for valuable minerals like bauxite. Bauxite is used to make aluminum. The company was part of a larger group based in the United Arab Emirates.
His work at the mining company gave him important skills. He learned how to manage large projects and lead many people. This business background was very helpful for his future role in government.
Becoming Prime Minister of Guinea
In October 2015, Alpha Condé won his second term as the President of Guinea. After the election, President Condé chose Mamady Youla to be the new Prime Minister. This appointment happened on December 26, 2015. Mr. Youla officially started his job on December 29, 2015.
The government believed that Mr. Youla's business experience was a big advantage. They said his appointment showed President Condé's goal. This goal was to create more jobs for people. It also aimed to help private businesses grow stronger in Guinea. Mr. Youla served as Prime Minister until May 2018.
