Manchester Airport is a very important airport located in Manchester, England. It's a busy place where many planes take off and land every day, connecting people to places all over the world.
This airport first opened its doors to passengers in June 1938. Back then, it had a different name: Ringway Airport. During World War II, it was even used by the military and was known as RAF Ringway. Later, from 1975 to 1986, it was called Manchester International Airport.
Most of Manchester Airport is inside the city of Manchester. However, a small part, especially its second runway, is actually in Cheshire. Manchester Airport is one of the biggest airports in the area, competing with others like Liverpool Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport.
