Manlleu (Catalan pronunciation: [məɲˈʎew]) is a town in the region of Osona, located in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, northern Spain. It's a place where history and nature meet, offering a unique experience for visitors.
Manlleu sits in a large flat area called La Plana de Vic. It is about 460 meters (1,509 feet) above sea level. The highest point nearby is Puig Agut church, which is about 594 meters (1,949 feet) high. The town is surrounded by mountains that are over 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) tall.
The Ter River flows through Manlleu. This river starts in the Pyrenees mountains and eventually reaches the Mediterranean Sea. It ends near the towns of Pals and the Illes Medes.

Winter Weather
Winters are usually cold. Daytime temperatures are between 7°C and 10°C (45-50°F). At night, temperatures can drop to between 0°C and -8°C (32-18°F). Some winters, it can get as cold as -15°C (5°F). The coldest temperature ever recorded was about -22°C (-8°F) in the 1950s.
Fog is very common during autumn and winter. Most rain falls around October and November. December, January, and February are usually drier months.
Spring and Summer Weather
Spring weather can be unpredictable. It often has a mix of rain and sunshine. Daytime temperatures are usually between 5°C and 25°C (41-77°F). Nights in spring can still be cool or cold.
Summers are warm. Temperatures can reach around 35°C to 40°C (95-104°F). However, summer nights are much cooler, usually around 12°C to 15°C (54-59°F).

Town Center and River Walk
- The main square is called Plaça Fra Bernadí. It's a great place to start exploring.
- The Passeig del Ter is a lovely walkway next to the Ter River. It's about 1.5 kilometers (almost a mile) long. Many different types of trees grow along this path. You can see poplars, plane trees, and even blue Atlas cedars. There are also weeping willows, lime trees, and horse chestnuts.
Historic Buildings and Churches
- The Church of Santa Maria is a beautiful old building. It was built using round stones from the Ter River.
- The neighborhoods of Dalt Vila and Baix Vila are the oldest parts of town. You can find many historic buildings there.
- The Church/Chapel of Sant Esteve de Vilacetrú and the Sanctuary of Puig Agut are also important religious sites.
Museums and Countryside
- The dovecot building on the Passeig del Ter helps control pigeons in a kind way.
- The Textile Industry Museum (Museu Industrial del Ter) is very interesting. It is located between the Ter River and an old industrial canal. It teaches you about the town's history with textiles.
- You can also visit old farmhouses in the countryside. These include Mas Corcó, Mas Bellfort, and Mas la Rierola. Some of these farms offer rural tourism, so you can stay there.
