A Talented Cricketer

Like his father and grandfather, Manoharsinhji loved cricket. He was a skilled player. He played his first big cricket match for the Saurashtra team in 1955. This was against the Gujarat team. In that first game, he scored 59 runs.

In 1973, his father passed away. Manoharsinhji then became the Thakore Saheb of Rajkot. After India became independent in 1947, this title no longer held real power. It was more of a respectful title. However, the family still owned the properties linked to the title.

He served two more times as a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. These terms were from 1980 to 1985 and from 1990 to 1995. During these years, he held important roles in the government. This car was custom-built for his grandfather in 1934. It had been out of the family for 42 years. At one point, it was the most expensive car in the world!
