Fernando Manuel Alonso Gómez de Valdés y Castillo (born January 21, 1931 – died August 28, 2020) was a very famous Mexican actor and comedian. He was part of the talented Valdés family. His brothers, Ramón Valdés and Germán Valdés (also known as "Tin Tan"), were also well-known actors. Manuel Valdés was also the father of popular singers Cristian Castro and Marcos Valdés. People often called him "El Loco" (The Crazy One) because of his funny and energetic style.

About Manuel Valdés and His Family
Manuel Valdés was born on January 21, 1931, in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. His parents were Rafael Gómez-Valdés Angellini and Guadalupe Castillo. Manuel had eight brothers and sisters. Many of his siblings also became famous in entertainment.
When Manuel was seven, his family moved to Nuevo Laredo. Later, they moved to Mexico City. Manuel's brother, Germán Valdés, was already a successful actor.
Manuel's Start in Entertainment
Manuel Valdés began his acting career early. At 13, he was an extra in a movie called El hijo desobediente. He earned 12 pesos for this first job.
When he was 19, Manuel became a dancer for Televicentro. His first time as a comedian was on a show called Variedades de medio día. He worked alongside Héctor Lechuga. Manuel "El Loco" Valdés is known as one of the first true television comedians in Mexico.

Manuel Valdés had twelve children. Some of his children also became famous. His son, Cristian Castro, is a very popular singer. Another son, Marcos Valdés, is also a singer. Cristian Castro's mother is the actress Verónica Castro.
