Cristian Sáinz Castro (born 8 December 1974) is a very popular Mexican pop singer. He is the son of famous actors Verónica Castro and Manuel "El Loco" Valdés. He is also the nephew of actors Ramón Valdés (who played Don Ramón in El Chavo del Ocho) and Germán "Tin-Tan" Valdés. Cristian Castro has sold over 12 million copies of his music. This makes him one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time.

The famous singer Juan Gabriel once said that Castro is "the man with the most talent to sing in Mexico."

About Cristian Castro

Cristian Castro was born in Mexico City. His mother is the actress and singer Verónica Castro, and his father is the comedian Manuel "El Loco" Valdés. Cristian also has a younger brother named Michelle Sáinz Castro. His uncle, José Alberto Castro, and his aunt, Beatriz Castro, are both producers in the entertainment world.

When he was just a baby, Cristian started acting. He appeared in a telenovela (a type of TV soap opera) called El derecho de nacer with his aunt. Soon after, he was in a TV commercial and a Mexican musical called Mame.

Cristian is known as one of the top-selling Latin artists. He has worked with many talented producers like Kike Santander, Rudy Pérez, and Richard Daniel Roman. In 1984, when he was young, Cristian first appeared on TV as a singer. He was in a children's singing contest called Juguemos a Cantar. However, he was too young to make it to the finals.

Early Music Career (1992–1996)

Cristian Castro officially started his singing career in 1992. He released his first album, Agua Nueva, when he was 18 years old. This album was a big hit in Mexico. It even earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Album.

After acting in some telenovelas and recording a few albums as a teenager, he began to become famous internationally in 1993. He started with concerts in Puerto Rico. To thank the people of Puerto Rico for their support, he dedicated a song to them on his second album, Un Segundo En El Tiempo, simply called Puerto Rico.

His song "Nunca Voy a Olvidarte" ("I Will Never Forget You") became his first number-one hit in 1993. This song really helped launch his career. He was also nominated for Pop New Artist of the Year at the Lo Nuestro Awards in 1993.

In 1994, Cristian released El Camino del Alma. A popular song from this album, "Mañana" ("Tomorrow"), was written by the famous Mexican singer Juan Gabriel. In 1995, he recorded "Vuélveme a Querer" for a special album. This song reached number 2 on the Hot Latin Tracks chart.

In 1996, Cristian released El Deseo De Oir Tu Voz. This album included popular songs like "Morelia", "Amor", and "Amarte a Ti". He was nominated for Male Pop Artist of the Year at the 9th Lo Nuestro Awards. Cristian has also sung the main songs for telenovelas such as Morelia (1994), Angela (1998), and Mujer De Madera (2004).

Continued Success (1997–2004)

In 1997, Cristian signed with a new music company, BMG. He released the album Lo Mejor De Mi. The famous pianist Raúl Di Blasio played on the song "Después De Tí...¿Qué?" ("After You...What?"). This album was nominated for Best Latin Pop Album of the Year.

After this success, Cristian sang duets with other artists like Olga Tañón and Grupo Límite. In 1999, he released Mi Vida Sin Tu Amor. This album had four songs that reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart. In 2001, his album Azul won Best Latin Pop Album of the Year. In 2002, he sang a duet with the Irish boy band Westlife on the song "Flying Without Wings".

Later Career (2005–Present)

In 2005, Cristian released Días Felices. This album featured songs like "Amor Eterno" and "Sin Tu Amor". In 2007, he released his first mariachi album, El Indomable. This album was produced by the legendary Vicente Fernández.

In 2009, he released the album El culpable soy yo. He also performed at a special Latin Grammy event honoring the singer José José. In 2010, he released the single "La Nave del Olvido" as part of Viva el Príncipe, which was a tribute album to José José. In 2011, he recorded another tribute album called Mi Amigo El Príncipe.

After some changes in his music career, Cristian signed with Sony Music. For his first album with Sony, he recorded a live album called Primera Fila : Día 1. This album included live versions of his well-known songs and some new ones. It featured collaborations with artists like Reik, Ha*Ash, Leonel García, and even his mother, Verónica Castro. The album was released on 2 April 2013.

Personal Life

Cristian Castro has lived in Argentina since 2020. He has been married a few times. He was married to model Gabriela Bo from Paraguay. After that, he married Valeria Liberman. Cristian has explored different faiths during his life.

He lives in Punta del Este, Uruguay, and Mexico City. Cristian Castro was diagnosed with autism when he was a child.
