Cristian Sáinz Castro (born December 8, 1974) is a famous pop singer from Mexico. He is known for his powerful voice and has sold over 12 million records worldwide. This makes him one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time.

Cristian comes from a very famous family. His parents are the well-known actors Verónica Castro and Manuel "El Loco" Valdés. His uncle was Ramón Valdés, who played the popular character Don Ramón in the TV show El Chavo del Ocho.

The famous Mexican singer Juan Gabriel once said that Castro was "the man with the most faculties to sing in Mexico," meaning he had one of the best singing voices in the country.

Early Life and Career

Cristian Castro was born in Mexico City. He grew up in the world of entertainment. As a baby, he appeared in a telenovela (a type of TV drama series) called El derecho de nacer. He also acted in TV commercials and appeared in the Mexican version of the musical Mame.

When he was a child, he entered a TV singing contest called Juguemos a Cantar. Even though he didn't make it to the finals because he was too young, it was his first time singing on television.

Rise to Stardom

First Albums (1992–1996)

In 1992, at the age of 18, Cristian released his first album, Agua Nueva. It was a huge hit in Mexico and even earned him a Grammy nomination. His career took off, and he became an international teen idol.

His song "Nunca Voy a Olvidarte" ("I Will Never Forget You") became a number-one hit in 1993 on the Hot Latin Tracks chart. To thank his fans in Puerto Rico, he dedicated a song to the country on his second album.

In 1994, he released El Camino del Alma. This album included the song "Mañana" ("Tomorrow"), which was written by the legendary Mexican singer Juan Gabriel. He continued to release successful albums like El Deseo De Oir Tu Voz in 1996, which had several hit songs. He also sang the theme songs for popular telenovelas, like Morelia and Ángela.

International Success (1997–2004)

In 1997, Castro signed with a new record label, BMG, and released the album Lo Mejor De Mi. The album was very popular and was nominated for Best Latin Pop Album of the Year. He started working with other famous artists, singing duets with singers like Olga Tañón.

His 1999 album, Mi Vida Sin Tu Amor, was a massive success. It had four hit singles that reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart. In 2001, he released Azul, which won the award for Best Latin Pop Album of the Year. A year later, he recorded the song "Flying Without Wings" with the popular Irish boy band Westlife.

New Music and Tributes (2005–2012)

Castro continued to make music with the record label Universal Music Latino. In 2005, he released the album Días Felices. In 2007, he recorded his first mariachi album, El Indomable, which was produced by the legendary mariachi singer Vicente Fernández.

In 2009, he released El culpable soy yo. He also took part in a special concert to celebrate the singer José José. This inspired him to record a tribute album to José José called Viva el Príncipe in 2010. It was so popular that he released a second tribute album, Mi Amigo El Príncipe, the next year.
