Mapleton is a small village located in Peoria County, Illinois, United States. In 2020, about 261 people lived there. Mapleton is part of the larger Peoria area.
The village is home to several important companies. These include an Evonik chemical plant, a Lonza Group plant, a Caterpillar Inc. factory (called a foundry), and an Ingredion facility. These businesses are all found along U.S. Route 24. They provide many jobs for people in Mapleton and the surrounding Peoria area.
