Ancient History of Mara
The Celtiberian Town of Segeda
Near Mara, you can find very old ruins of a town called Segeda-Sekeiza. This town was built by the Celtiberians, an ancient group of people. They lived in parts of Spain a long, long time ago.
Later, people from the Roman civilization also lived in Segeda. This is why the town is sometimes called Romano-Celtiberian. It shows how different cultures mixed in this area.
The remains of Segeda-Sekeiza are located between Mara and a nearby town called Belmonte de Gracián. These ruins help us learn about the history of the region.
