Maranganji facts for kids
The Maranganji people, also known as Margany or Mardigan, are one of the many groups of Indigenous Australians. They are the original people who lived in parts of the state of Queensland, Australia.
Where They Lived
The Maranganji people lived on a large area of land. A researcher named Norman Tindale estimated their traditional lands covered about 810 square miles (2,100 square kilometers).
Their country included areas around the towns of Quilpie, Cheepie, and Beehchal. They also lived along the Paroo River all the way to Eulo. Their lands stretched to the Bulloo River near Ardoch, and south towards Thargomindah and Dynevor Downs.

Over time, the Maranganji people have been known by several different names. These include:
