Marble is a small, unincorporated community located in Stevens County, in the state of Washington, United States. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.

History of Marble

The community of Marble got its name from the natural marble deposits found nearby. This beautiful stone was an important part of the area's early history.

Early Days and Post Office

A post office was opened in Marble in 1897. This was a big deal because it helped people send and receive mail. It also showed that the community was growing. The post office served the area for many years, finally closing its doors in 1943.

The Marble Fellowship Community Church

In the early 1990s, a new group came to Marble. Barry and Ann Byrd started the Marble Fellowship Community Church. At this time, Marble was almost a ghost town, meaning very few people lived there. The church attracted new residents from different parts of the western United States.

Some people in the area became worried about the new church. They were concerned about the beliefs of the newcomers. The church was linked to a specific interpretation of Christianity. This interpretation is seen by some groups as having views that are not welcoming to all people.

The church held an event each year called the God and Country Celebration. This event brought together many people with strong political views. Some of these individuals were known for their connections to groups that hold extreme beliefs about race and nationality.
