About His Life

Marc Murphy's father was a diplomat, which means his family moved around a lot. Before he was 12 years old, Marc lived in many different cities around the world. These included Milan, Paris, Rome, Genoa, and Washington, D.C.. He says that living in these places taught him a lot about French and Italian cooking.

He opened his first restaurant with his wife, Pamela Schein. They live in New York City with their two children. In an interview, Marc Murphy shared that his mother and grandparents also influenced his cooking. He remembers enjoying dishes like leg of lamb and ratatouille when he was in the south of France.
