Marcela Luz Valladolid, born on July 19, 1978, is a well-known American chef and author. She hosted the TV show Mexican Made Easy on Food Network. She also appeared as a judge on another Food Network show called Best Baker in America.

Early Life and Education
Marcela Valladolid was born in San Diego, California. Her journey to becoming a chef began when she helped at her Aunt Marcela's cooking school. This school was located in Tijuana, Mexico.
Marcela studied cooking at the Los Angeles Culinary Institute. After that, she moved to Paris, France. There, she became a trained pastry chef at the Ritz-Escoffier Cooking School.
After her studies, she returned to Tijuana. She started her own catering business. She also taught cooking classes to many students from her home.
Cooking Career
Marcela Valladolid joined Bon Appétit magazine. She worked there as an editor and helped style recipes. In 2005, she was a contestant on the TV show The Apprentice: Martha Stewart. She finished in fourth place.
Her first cooking show was Relatos con Sabor. This show aired on Discovery en Español in the United States and Latin America. On the show, Marcela taught viewers how families kept old traditional recipes alive.
Cookbooks and TV Shows
Marcela's first cookbook was Fresh Mexico: 100 Simple Recipes for True Mexican Flavor. It came out in August 2009 and got good reviews.
In January 2010, her second cooking show, Mexican Made Easy, started on the Food Network. Her second cookbook, also called Mexican Made Easy, was released in September 2011. It was a companion book to the TV show.
Both her book and the show were filmed in San Diego. Marcela wanted to show that real Mexican cooking uses fresh flavors. She also wanted to show that it does not use "yellow cheese" as some people might think.
Other TV Appearances
Marcela Valladolid has been on many other Food Network shows. She was a judge on Throwdown! with Bobby Flay. In 2012, she teamed up with Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America. They won against Masaharu Morimoto and Andrew Zimmern.
Also in 2012, she competed in a celebrity version of Chopped. She made it to the final round and finished second. In 2013, she was a judge on Guy's Grocery Games.
Marcela was also a judge on The American Baking Competition. This was a reality TV cooking show on CBS. On November 27, 2013, Marcela was a guest model on The Price Is Right. She had also been a contestant on the show in 2004.
In January 2014, Marcela became one of the hosts of The Kitchen on Food Network. She left the show in October 2017.
Personal Life
Marcela Valladolid has three children. Her son Fausto Gallardo was born in 2004. She had him with her ex-husband, Fausto Gallardo. She has two more children with her current husband, Philip Button. Their son David Button-Valladolid was born in 2015. Their daughter Anna Carina Button-Valladolid was born in 2016.
