Marco Donadel (born on April 21, 1983) is an Italian football coach and a former midfielder. He used to play in the middle of the field. Today, he works as an assistant coach for a team called CF Montréal in Major League Soccer.

Playing Career

Early Years at Milan

Marco Donadel started his football journey in the youth teams of Milan. He played for their youth side between 1998 and 2002. During this time, he helped his team win the Torneo di Viareggio, a famous youth tournament, in both 1999 and 2001.

After his success in the youth teams, he moved up to the senior (main) team. On March 4, 2001, he played his first game for Milan. He came into the game as a substitute during a Serie A match against Parma. The next season, he also played his first games in the UEFA Cup and the Coppa Italia.

Donadel only played a few games for Milan's senior team. In July 2002, he was loaned out to Lecce to get more playing experience.

Moving to Other Italian Clubs

In June 2003, Donadel moved to Parma. After a year, in June 2004, Milan bought back his playing rights. For the 2004–05 season, Donadel was loaned to Sampdoria. Later, in January 2005, he was loaned to Fiorentina.

Time at Fiorentina

Marco Donadel did very well during his loan spell with Fiorentina. Because of his good performance, Fiorentina signed him permanently. He became a regular player for coach Cesare Prandelli during the 2005–06 season. Prandelli already knew Donadel's skills from their time together at Parma. In June 2007, Donadel was offered a new contract that kept him with Fiorentina until June 2011.

Playing for Napoli and Verona

On June 24, 2011, Donadel signed a four-year contract with Napoli. However, he didn't play many league matches for Napoli, only appearing in four games. During the 2013–14 season, he was sent on loan to Verona. At Verona, he was a regular starter and played much more often.

Adventures with Montreal Impact

After his loan with Verona ended, Donadel tried out for Major League Soccer team Montreal Impact. He officially joined the Montreal Impact on December 1, 2014.

He scored an amazing goal on July 11, 2015, from about 30 yards away, in a 3–0 win against Columbus Crew. This goal was even voted the "MLS goal of the week"! On October 25, he helped set up one of Drogba's goals. This helped Montreal come back to beat their rivals Toronto FC 2–1 at home. This win gave Montreal an advantage in the 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Donadel left Montreal on June 22, 2018.

International Career

Marco Donadel was an important player for Italy's national youth teams. He was the captain of the Italy under-21 team between 2004 and 2006. During this time, he helped his team win the 2004 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He played 31 games for the under-21 team and scored 1 goal.

Donadel also won a bronze medal with Italy at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the football tournament.

Coaching Career

After his playing career, Marco Donadel became a football coach. On December 17, 2021, he was announced as the new assistant coach for Spartak Moscow in Russia. He worked there with head coach Paolo Vanoli.

On April 11, 2023, Donadel took on his first job as a head coach for Serie C club Ancona in Italy. However, he was dismissed on October 23, 2023, because of poor results.

Donadel returned to Montreal in December 2024. He joined Laurent Courtois's coaching staff at CF Montréal as an assistant coach.
