Marcoux Corner: A Local Landmark
Marcoux Corner was once a well-known spot. It was located on U.S. Highway 2 in Polk County. This was between the towns of Mentor and Crookston. It was right where Highway 2 met Minnesota Highway 32.
Edward Joseph Marcoux first settled this spot in 1927. In the late 1930s, an old school building was moved here. It became a roadhouse and tavern, which is like a restaurant and gathering place. This business stayed open for many years.
Over time, more than a dozen different owners ran the business. But in 2001, it finally closed down. Not long after, the building was intentionally burned down by the fire department.
