Marcus Deshon Haislip (born December 22, 1980) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and other top leagues around the world.
Marcus grew up in Lewisburg, Tennessee, and went to Marshall County High School. He became well-known while playing college basketball for the University of Tennessee from 1999 to 2002. After college, he played for several seasons in the NBA and the EuroLeague, which is a major basketball league in Europe. He is 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 meters) tall and weighs 230 pounds (104 kg).

Marcus Haislip's Professional Basketball Journey
Marcus Haislip was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2002 NBA draft. He was the 13th player picked overall. During his first year, he started in the last nine games of the 2002–03 NBA season. When the playoffs began, he mostly played from the bench.
He continued as a bench player for the Bucks for two seasons. In November 2004, he left the team. The Indiana Pacers then signed him during the 2004–05 NBA season. He helped the team when they needed a power forward.
Playing in Turkey and Europe
In the 2005–06 season, Marcus started playing for Ülkerspor in Turkey. He was chosen for the Turkish Basketball Super League All-Star Game. He also won the Slam Dunk contest, showing off his amazing jumping skills. In March 2006, he returned to the United States for family reasons.
He then signed with another strong Turkish team, Efes Pilsen, in August 2006. In October 2006, Marcus came back to the U.S. with Pilsen to play exhibition games against NBA teams. He played well against the Golden State Warriors, scoring 13 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. In July 2007, Marcus joined the Spanish club Unicaja Málaga.
Return to the NBA and More International Play
On July 8, 2009, Marcus Haislip signed with the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. He played in ten games for them before leaving the team in January 2010. His last NBA game was on January 16, 2010, against the Memphis Grizzlies.
After his time with the Spurs, Marcus signed with Panathinaikos, a top team in the Greek Basket League, in January 2010. He later played for Caja Laboral in Spain. In December 2010, he had to leave the team early.
Playing in Asia and Africa
Marcus then moved to China, signing with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in January 2011. In December 2011, he joined the Foshan Dralions.
In March 2012, he signed a two-month contract with Champville SC in Lebanon. He helped his team win the Lebanese championship for the first time ever. He was a very well-paid player during his time there.
In September 2012, Marcus joined the Dongguan Leopards in China for the 2012–13 season. The next season, he stayed in China and played for the Jiangsu Dragons.
In November 2014, Marcus signed a short deal with Club Africain in Tunisia. Then, in December 2014, he signed with Eskişehir Basket in Turkey for the rest of that season.
Later Career and Retirement
In December 2015, Marcus signed with Türk Telekom for the rest of the 2015–16 season. In May 2016, he returned to China to play for the Guizhou White Tigers.
In August 2016, Marcus Haislip signed with the Turkish club Gaziantep Basketbol. He continued to play professionally until 2017, having a long and successful career across many different countries and leagues.
