Early Life and High School Football
Marcus Thomas was born in Yokosuka, Japan. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and went to Mandarin High School. While there, he was a star football player for the Mandarin Mustangs. His skills earned him a spot on the all-state high school football team.
College Football Career
After high school, Marcus Thomas received a sports scholarship. He chose to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. From 2003 to 2006, he played for the Florida Gators football team. The team was coached by Urban Meyer.
In November 2006, Marcus Thomas was removed from the team. This happened because he did not follow the team's rules. He had missed curfew and a required meeting. He also went on a trip without permission. Thomas studied anthropology during his time at the university.
Professional Football Career
Marcus Thomas played for a few different professional football teams. He started his career in the NFL. Later, he also played in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos picked Marcus Thomas in the 2007 NFL draft. He was the 121st player chosen overall, in the fourth round. On July 11, he signed a four-year contract with the Broncos. This contract was worth about $3 million. He played for the Broncos from 2007 to 2011.
New York Giants
On August 16, 2012, Thomas signed a one-year deal. This was with the New York Giants. However, he was released by the Giants on August 31, 2012. This meant he only spent a short time with the team.
Toronto Argonauts
Marcus Thomas later moved to the CFL. On October 16, 2013, he joined the Toronto Argonauts. He was first added to their practice team. He played in two games for the Argonauts in 2013. The next season, he played in three more games. On February 10, 2015, Thomas became a free agent. This meant he was no longer signed to a team.
