History of Marga Marga
How the Province Was Formed
Marga Marga Province is quite new! It was officially created by a special law on August 25, 2009. The province started working on March 11, 2010.
To form this new province, some areas were moved from other provinces. Two cities, Quilpué and Villa Alemana, came from Valparaíso Province. Two other cities, Limache and Olmué, joined from Quillota Province. All these areas came together to make Marga Marga Province.
How Marga Marga is Governed
Provincial Administration
Marga Marga is a second-level administrative division in Chile. This means it's a major area within a larger region. It is governed by a special person called a provincial delegate. The President of Chile chooses this delegate to lead the province.
Cities and Towns (Communes)
The province is made up of four main areas, which are called communes. Each commune has its own local government. This government includes an alcalde (which is like a mayor) and a group of people called a municipal council.
The four communes in Marga Marga Province are:
- Quilpué (This is the capital city of the province)
- Villa Alemana
- Limache
- Olmué
