Margalef is a small village in Catalonia, a region in Spain. It is located near the beautiful Montsant mountains. Margalef is a very popular place for ecotourism, especially for people who love rock climbing.
The rocks around Margalef are made of a special type called conglomerate. This rock is perfect for climbing. There are more than 1500 climbing routes here. These routes have different difficulty levels, from easy (grade 4) to extremely hard (grade 9b+). Many buildings in the village are also built right on top of these unique rock formations.
