Margaret of Artois (1285–1311) was an important noblewoman in medieval France. She was the oldest child of Philip of Artois and Blanche of Brittany. Margaret belonged to the powerful House of Artois. She became the Countess of Évreux when she married Louis d'Évreux.

Life of Margaret of Artois
Margaret was born in 1285. Her family, the House of Artois, was a very important noble family in France. She grew up in a time when noble families often married each other to gain power and alliances.
Her Marriage and Family
Margaret married Louis d'Évreux in Paris. Louis was a son of Philip III of France, a king of France. His mother was Maria of Brabant. This marriage connected Margaret to the French royal family.
Margaret and Louis had five children together. All of their children lived to be adults and later had their own families. This was important for continuing their family lines.
Margaret's Children
- Marie d'Évreux (born 1303, died 1335): She married John III, Duke of Brabant in 1311.
- Charles d'Évreux (born 1305, died 1336): He became the Count of Étampes. Charles married Maria de la Cerda.
- Philip III of Navarre (born 1306, died 1343): He married Joan II of Navarre.
- Margaret d'Évreux (born 1307, died 1350): She married William XII of Auvergne in 1325. Her daughter was Jeanne I of Auvergne.
- Jeanne d'Évreux (born 1310, died 1370): She married Charles IV of France, who was a king of France.
Margaret's Death
Margaret of Artois died in Paris in 1311. She was buried in a church called the Couvent des Jacobins. This church is no longer standing today. Margaret was quite young when she died, only about 25 or 26 years old. She was buried alongside her husband and their five children.
